The Knock is a British television crime drama, made by Anita Bronson and broadcast on ITV, describing the activities of customs officers from London City & Unit of Investigation of South Collection of HM Customs and Excise. This series gets its name from the command " Knock knock knock " used on the radio to synchronize attacks.
Five series aired from April 10, 1994, until November 11, 2000. The series has a rotating player, with only a small number of cast members performing throughout the run series. Only two cast members appearing in each series are Caroline Lee-Johnson, Trevor Byfield and Steve Toussaint. The series also adopts a number of different formats: while the initial series is interspersed with various storylines and has run plots throughout the series; the series then adopts a multi-part format that produces two or three cases per series; while the last series adopted a weekly stand-alone week format.
The series was fired in 2001 after seeing a bad number for the last series. It is blamed on the loss of some of the leading actors, changes in format and overall appearance of the series that changed dramatically after being overhauled by ITV executives in 1999.
