" All Around the World " is a song recorded by British recording artist Lisa Stansfield for her 1989 album Affii, which became her biggest hit. It was written by Stansfield, Ian Devaney and Andy Morris, and produced by Devaney and Morris. This song received positive reviews from music critics. The songwriters, Stansfield, Devaney, and Morris, received the 1989 Ivor Novello Award for Best Songs by Musical and Lyrics. "All Around the World" was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 33rd Annual Grammy Awards. In addition, Stansfield was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

"All Around the World" was released as the second European single on October 16, 1989. It was remixed by Yvonne Turner, Eddie Gordon, Paul Witts and Steve Anderson. In North America, "All Around the World" was released as the first single on January 15, 1990 and included remixes created by The 45 King and Richard Sweret. In Japan, the single was released on February 7, 1990. The music video was directed by Philip Richardson.

The single is single sole single Lisa Stansfield (but she also has No.1 with Five Live (George Michael and Queen EP)) and the first of the top ten hits she will achieve in the UK.

In 2003, "All Around the World" was included in Biography: The Greatest Hits . In 2014, remixes from "All Around the World" were included in the 2CD DVD reissue of Valentines , Face Up and on Hold People At... The Remix Anthology compilation (also on The Collection 1989-2003 ).

Commercial performance

"All Around the World" became a very successful single, peaking at number one in many countries. In Europe, it reached the top of the charts in Austria (for six weeks), Netherlands (four weeks), Norway (three weeks), England (two weeks), Spain (two weeks) and Belgium (one week). It also peaked at number two in Germany, number three in Ireland, Italy and Switzerland, number four in Sweden, and number seven in Finland.

In the United States, "All Around the World" reached number three on Billboard Hot 100, and was also in the top position for two weeks on Hot R & amp; B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Dance Club Songs charts. Stansfield became the first white woman to occupy the Hot R & amp; B/Hip-Hop Songs since Teena Marie scored in 1988 with "O La La La La." At Adult Contemporary Singles, the song peaked at number seven.

In Canada, "All Around the World" reached number three on the Top Singles Chart and Adult Contemporary Chart, and peaked at number one on the Dance/Urban Chart. "All Around the World" also reached number nine in Australia and number ten in New Zealand. The single is certified Platinum in the United States for selling over one million copies and Gold in the UK, Australia, Germany, Austria and Sweden.

1992, 2003 and 2014 versions

In 1992, Stansfield re-recorded "All Around the World" as a duet with Barry White. This version is included in the single, "Time to Make You Mine" (March 1992). All artist royalties from these recordings are donated to Charity trading places. Peter Stuart's music video directed to the duet version was also released. In November 1992, this duet version was also included in White's album, Just for You. In 2003, Stansfield released Biography: The Greatest Hits promoted by his unique track, "All Around the World." In the United States, promotional singles include remixes made by Norty Cotto and reach number thirty-four on Hot Dance Club Songs' Hot Dance Club Songs. Single promo digital with remix by Junior Vasquez was also released.

In 2014, remixes from "All Around the World" were included in the 2CD DVD reissue of Valentines , Face Up and on Hold People At... The Remix Anthology compilation (also on The Collection 1989-2003 ). Affection re-releases include: Long Versions, Around House Mix and Mix Love Runaway, all from 1989. Face Up 2014 re-released remix feature from 2003: Norty Cotto Remix, Duby World Dub and Junior Vasquez Earth Anthem. Finally, People Hold On... The Remix Anthology includes: Global Quest from 1989, American Club Remix from 1990 and previous Attack Mix unreleased by The 45 King.
