Daniel Wroughton Craig (born March 2, 1968) is a British actor. He trained at the National Youth Theater and graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1991, before starting his career on stage. His film debut was in drama The Power of One (1992). Other early appearances were in the historical television war drama Sharpe's Eagle (1993), Disney family movie A Kid at King Arthur's Court (1995), drama series Our Friends < friends in the North (1996) and biographical film Elizabeth (1998).
Craig's appearance in British television film Love Is the Devil: Studies for Francis Bacon Images (1998), indie war movie The Trench (1999), and Some Voices (2000) caught the attention of the film industry. This led to roles in larger productions such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), crime thriller Road to Perdition (2002), crime thriller > Layer Cake (2004), and historical drama Steven Spielberg Munich (2005). Craig achieved international fame when selected as the sixth actor to play the role of British secret agent Ian Fleming character James Bond in the series, taking over from Pierce Brosnan in 2005.
