Elisha Nelson Manning IV (born January 3, 1981) is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Mississippi from 2000 to 2003. Manning is the son of former NFL player Archie Manning and the younger brother of former NFL player Peyton Manning.
Manning keeps the Giants franchise records for passing the yard, passes the touchdown, and completes the operands of his career. He led the Giants to victory in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI, defeating the New England Patriots in both games. Manning was named the Most Valuable Player of every Super Bowl, becoming one of five players to have multiple Super Bowl MVP awards (Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw also have two, Joe Montana three and Tom Brady four).
Manning started 210 straight games from 2004 to 2017, the second longest running streak started by quarterbacks in NFL history. He is the seventh all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. Despite not having the statistically consistent prowess of his brother, Manning is known for his remarkable performance in both the clutch and the postseason.

Professional career
The San Diego Chargers originally held the right to vote for the first overall in the 2004 NFL Draft due to their 4-12 record in 2003. With Manning being the most coveted player in the draft, Chargers' intent was to set it all up first. However, Manning (repeated by his father) publicly stated that he would refuse to play for Chargers if compiled by them. The Chargers picked him with the first overall pick as the team had made a deal with the New York Giants, where the Giants would compile and then trade Philip Rivers and draft picks (used to pick Shawne Merriman midfielder and placekicker Nate Kaeding) Filler for Manning. He signed a six-year, $ 45 million contract with the New York Giants.
Manning was one of four quarterbacks taken in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft along with Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, and J. P. Losman. Manning, Roethlisberger, and Rivers have all been selected to become Pro Bowl since becoming a starter. Until 2013, Roethlisberger and Manning did not produce a season with a losing record (although each had a season 8-8), and Roethlisberger and Manning each won two Super Bowls. They have been compared well with the 1983 Quarterback class, which includes the Hall of Fame quarterbacks And Marino, John Elway, and Jim Kelly.
season 2004: Year Rookie
Manning made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He came into the game towards the end of the fourth quarter with the help of Warner. He completed 31-17 3-of-9 losses for 66 yards. Manning started his first career in the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons at Giants Stadium on 21 November 2004. In his fourth start, against the Baltimore Ravens at M & T Bank on December 12, 2004, he ended the day with a passing 0.0 pass rating and was lowered in the second half and favored Kurt Warner, but remained a Giants starter until the end of the season. The Giants finished with a record of 6-10 and 1-6 in the game that started Manning.
2005 season: NFC East champion
After 2004, Warner left the Giants, and Manning was named as the starter for 2005. Manning led the Giants to a 2-0 record with victories against the Cardinals and Saints, before traveling to the West Coast for a test in San Diego. Chargers fans did not forget the humiliation, and on 25 September 2005 when Manning and the Giants made their first trip to San Diego for the game since that day, the crowd mocked Manning hard whenever he touched the ball. San Diego beat the Giants, 45-23, but Manning showed what was perhaps his most impressive performance in his young career, being 24-of-41 for 352 yards and two goals.
After his performance in San Diego, Manning returned home to throw nearly 300 yards and four career high goals against St. Louis Rams at Giants Stadium in a 44-24 romp. Two games later, he led a last-minute lead against the Denver Broncos to secure a 24-23 win for the Giants. Drive culminated in a two-yard touchdown to Amani Toomer with five seconds remaining. Two weeks later, Manning overcame a weak first half in San Francisco to help his team secure their first official road win of the season, 24-6. Despite his poor performance at home against Minnesota Vikings, throwing four interceptions, he again led his team back to tie the game in stoppage time before the Vikings triumphed in the final goal of the field.
Manning finished among the top five quarterbacks in both passing yards and a touchdown pass, while leading the third completed offense in the NFL in scoring with a total of 422 points. That was the most points the Giants scored in a season since 1963. The Giants won NFC East with an 11-5 record and advanced to the postseason as the # 4 seed. In the Wild Card Round against the Carolina Panthers, Manning was 10-of-18 for 113 yards and three interceptions in a 23-0 defeat.
2006 season
Manning's second full season reminiscent of his 2005 season. He started playing well and completed more than 65 percent of his operations through the first four games. However, he struggled in the second half of the season and his production was reduced towards the end of the regular season. After losing a difficult game to his brother Peyton and Colts on the opening day, Manning and Giants rebounded from a 24-7 fourth quarter deficit on the way to a 30-24 overtime victory over the Eagles division rivals in Week 2. Manning threw for a high 371 yard in victory with three goals including a match-winning bait to Plaxico Burress in extra time to get the NFC's Player of the Week. After a poor performance against Seattle next week, Manning and Giants responded by winning five straight games including wins over the Redskins, Cowboys, and Falcons to push their record to 6-2.
Following this winning streak, major injuries including one for the recipient Amani Toomer pushed Manning and Giants into a downward drop. Playing against the Chicago Bears, Manning started well, but the Giants offense slipped by the loss of his left hand over Luke Petitgout to a broken leg. Manning was held only 141 yards with two interception. Petigout's loss left a gaping hole in the remaining crucial positions, and Manning could not repeat his first half of success. Manning struggled next week in Jacksonville and the week after that, costly interception helped to culminate a major collapse in Tennessee, with the Giants seeing 21 points leading the fourth quarter just yawning. Manning improved the following week, throwing for 270 yards and two goals, but the Giants lost again. Finally regaining momentum, Manning made three goals in a win at the Carolina, but then he failed in the last three games. He threw two interceptions against the Eagles and counted just 73 yards past the game against Saints. Although the Giants struggled back into the next 8-8 weeks in Washington, Manning finished just 12 out of 26 bait for 101 yards and one goal. The Giants qualify for the postseason as # 6-seed and meet the Eagles. Although he was significantly better off in this game than the 2005 playoffs against the Carolina Panthers, finishing 16 of 27 passes and two goals, the Giants lost on a second last field goal by the Eagles.
For this year, Manning threw for 3,244 yards, 24 goals, and 18 interceptions. He finished 57.7 percent of his bait, five points from 2005, but he struggled again in the second half of the season. Manning ended the season with a 77.0 quarterback efficiency rating (18th in the league) with 6.2 meters per effort.
season 2007: Super Bowl champion
Manning trained in Meadowlands with offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride and new quarterback coach Chris Palmer before the 2007 regular season. For the first time, Plaxico Burress and Jeremy Shockey practiced off-season with Manning to perfect their time and chemistry rather than practicing alone in Miami as they did in previous years.
Regular season
Manning opened the 2007 season with extraordinary personal performance against the Dallas Cowboys, finishing 28 of 41 passing attempts to 312 yards, four goals, and interception, but suffered a shoulder sprain and was removed from the game at the end of the second half. Although he played against Green Bay in the second week while throwing for 211 yards with one goal, the Giants defense was performing poorly again and the team went down to 0-2 with Green Bay winning 35-13. In the third week, Manning got the victory coming from behind as the Giants' defense improved, throwing a shutout in the second half and stopping the Washington Redskins in fourth and goal, winning the match 24-17. The Giants defense then closed the Philadelphia Eagles with an NFL record-tying 12 sacks, holding the Eagles offense to a single field goal. The Giants won by 16-3. The following week, Manning overcame a dismal first half to score two goals in the second half in a 35-24 victory over their city rival, the New York Jets.
After two consecutive wins at home, Manning and Giants earned their fourth straight win with a 31-10 Atlanta Falcons defeat at Georgia Dome on Monday Night Football. Manning performed well, completing 27 of 39 passes for 303 yards along with a pair of touchdowns while giving two interception. Behind the dominant defense effort, the Giants increased to 5-2 next week with a 33-15 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Manning played well again, throwing two goals in that effort. On the eighth week of the season, the Giants played a street match against the Miami Dolphins on October 28, 2007, at London's Wembley Stadium. Manning only threw 59 yards in the rain and mud, but he only scored the only Giants goal on 10 yards. This goal is the first in a regular NFL season match played outside North America. The Giants beat the Dolphins, 13-10, taking the Giants to a 6-2 record at the mid point of the 2007 season. After losing to their division rivals at the Dallas Cowboys in the 9th week, New York Giants owner John Mara openly questioned Manning's ability to lead the New York Giants in 2007, but more importantly in the future:
The only thing we evaluated was 'Can we win with this guy?' It's the only one. When we talk about any player at the end of the season, No.1 question is 'Will he help us win?' And to take it one step further, 'Can we win the championship with this guy?'
After a week of criticism in New York media and was shown by Tony Romo, Manning had a winning back against their wildcard conference contenders Detroit Lions. Manning managed to throw the ball as far as 283 yards and one goal but most importantly, there is no interception in a critical road game.
The following week in a 41-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Manning threw four interceptions and three of them back for touchdown. He continued to fight until the final game of the season, against 15-0 New England Patriots. With a safe playoff spot, the Giants can rest their starters for the playoffs, but they instead choose to stay on and try to stop New England's quest for an unbeaten regular season. The Giants lost 38-35, with Manning finishing 22 of 32 passes for 252 yards, with four goals and one interception.
Playoff 2007
The Giants entered the playoffs as the # 5 seed. On January 6, 2008, Manning went 20-of-27 to 185 yards playing on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Underdog Giants won 24-14, and Manning had two passing goals.
On January 13, 2008, Manning led the Giants to a stunning victory over the highly favored Dallas Cowboys, the number one seed in the NFC. For the third game in a row, Manning played well, finishing 12 of 18 passes for 163 yards and two goals without interception. The Giants are the first team to beat the NFC number one seed in the division since the start of the 12-team format in 1990. This victory secured the NFC Championship spot against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 20, 2008. In the NFC Championship, the Giants beat the Packers at overtime, with a score of 23-20. A dramatic win makes Manning and Giants travel to Super Bowl XLII. It was the first Super Bowl appearance for the New York Giants since Super Bowl XXXV in 2001, and their first Super Bowl win since Super Bowl XXV.
Super Bowl XLII
In front of a record-setting American television audiences and at the end of fourth quarter powered by Manning, the Giants beat 12.5 point-favored, unbeaten New England Patriots 17-14.
Manning takes a snap, goes back to throw, under pressure, avoids the rush and he'll... fight from it, still fight from it, now throw it deep into the field, wide open Tyree's... MAKE A CATCHING! IN THE 24-YARD LINE! What is Manning doing!
Trailing 14-10 with 2:42 left, Manning led the Giants 83 yards on the winning touchdown drive. In the 3rd and 5th minutes in the Giant 44 yard line, Manning connected with David Tyree in a drama where he avoided some close sacks and Tyree caught the ball from his helmet for a big profit. Four plays later, Plaxico Burress caught a 13-yard touchdown pass with just 35 seconds left to win margin. Manning became only the second quarterback in NFL history to dump two fourth-quarter touchdowns in the Super Bowl (Joe Montana being the first). Manning also became the first quarterback to throw a last-minute winner in the NFL title game (including the pre-Super Bowl era) when a goalkeeper would not at least tie the match. After the Giants' monumental victory, Manning and the coaching staff spoke briefly with President George W. Bush.
Manning was named the Super Bowl XLII Most Valuable Player. He and his brother Peyton are the only combination of siblings to play in quarterbacks in the Super Bowl and a set of brothers to win the Super Bowl MVP, doing so in subsequent years.
To win the Super Bowl MVP, he was given his choice for the 2008 Cadillac model, and Manning chose the Escalade Hybrid. Wednesday after Super Bowl he appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman .
2008 season: NFC East champion
Manning and Giants opened the 2008 season with a win over their division rivals, Washington Redskins, 16-7. "This is a great opening for the season," said Manning, who finished 19 operands 35 for 216 yards, and had one hurried touchdown and one interception. "There's a lot of emotion, a lot of excitement, you can feel it in the crowd." In this year's second Giants game against St. Louis Rams, they won again, 41-13, behind Manning's star appearance. Manning finished the game with 20 finishes, 260 yards went by and threw three goals to three different recipients. The victory also marked the team's fourth consecutive victory over the Rams. The following week, Manning united the Giants into more fourth-quarter magic, overcoming a late deficit to provide a tough pass for Kevin Boss, and then in extra time, throwing a 31-yard clutch into Amani Toomer at the Giants' 26-23 win over Cincinnati. The fourth week of the season saw the Giants score on each of their first six treasures and dominate Seattle Seahawks, 44-6. New York rose to 8-1 with a 36-31 victory in Philadelphia. Manning threw two goals in the win, but the crucial game took place in the third quarter. With Giants four behind, Manning seems to be doing an illegal pass forward to the tight Bos. After review, it is determined that the passport is valid. The Giants scored a touchdown two dramas later. Week nine pitted the Giants in battle with the visiting Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens came into the game with a third-ranked league defense; Nevertheless, Manning led the Giants to a decisive 30-10 victory, rising to 9-1, which included a 200-yard rushed effort by running the backs of Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw. Two weeks later, the Giants face the Redskins in Washington at their second meeting of the season. Manning threw his first 300 yard match of the season with 21-of-34 with interception and a 40-yard touchdown pass to Toomer. The Giants beat the Redskins 23-7. In November, Manning was named the NFC Attack Player of the Month. For this month, Manning throws 1,036 yards and ten goals, and collects a 94.9 passer rating while leading the Giants to a perfect 5-0 record.
Manning was named after his first Pro Bowl on December 16, making him the first Giants midfielder to earn his honor since Phil Simms in 1993. At the 15th week, Manning and Giants visited the Texas Stadium, where Tony Romo fought through the dismissal of the lower back and connected with nine a different receiver, finishing 20-of-30 for 244 yards and two touchdowns leading the Dallas Cowboys to a 20-8 win. In the 16th week against the Carolina Panthers with homefield advantage NFC on the line, Manning had a passing day of 17 from 27 to 181 yards and no interception. Manning led the Giants back from a 21-10 and 28-20 deficits to tie the match with just over three minutes remaining, including a bullet to Domenik Hixon to convert two key points to tie the game in 28. The game was played in freezing conditions.
After being No. No. 1 in the NFC with a 12-4 record, the Giants made their first playoffs week after week and gained home advantage through the rest of the playoffs. In the division round, they face the Philadelphia Eagles at the Giants Stadium with windy conditions. Philadelphia went on to win the 23-11 game. Manning completed 15 of 29 bait for 169 yards without touchdown and two interception.

Manning and Giants traveled to Dallas to play Cowboys at the opening of their new Cowboys Stadium on Sunday Night Football. Manning played superbly completing 25 of 38 passing attempts for 330 yards, two goals and no interception which resulted in a 33-31 win for the Giants in the last second field goal. He stayed on for the next play completing a 54-yard touchdown to Hakeem Nicks. It was found that Manning had plantar fasciitis (inflammation of the connective tissue inside the soles of his feet) and there was speculation he would not play against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday 5. However, on Sunday 5, Manning played well, finishing eight of ten passes for 173 yards and two goals with the Giants winning 44-7. This is the first time in his career that Manning posted the perfect passer rating.

Manning led the Giants to a 17-14 victory in the final game of the season against the Washington Redskins, however, as the Green Bay Packers won 10-3 over the Chicago Bears, the Giants did not make the playoffs. The Packers went on to win the Super Bowl XLV. He ended the season with 4,002 yards, 31 career-high touchdowns, but also career-high 25 interceptions, which were marked most by quarterbacks in the 2010 season, and 62.5 completion percentages.
2011 season: Second Super Bowl Championship
In August 2011, Manning produced a mild controversy in sports media during a radio interview on The Michael Kay Show. When asked by host Michael Kay whether he is the elite "Top 10, Top 5" quarterback in the same class as Tom Brady, he replied:
I consider myself in that class. Tom Brady is a great quarterback... I think now he's grown and getting better every year and that's what I'm trying to do. I hope the next seven years of my days as a quarterback is the best.
Manning received criticism over the quote for trying to improve his own status and skills, with critics pointing out his inconsistent statistics, including his 25 interceptions in the previous season, as evidence contrary to his claim. However, Manning also received support for his comments from Giants coach Tom Coughlin and teammates such as wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. Later in the season, Dallas Cowboys defense coordinator Rob Ryan commented on the quote, agreeing with Manning that he was an elite quarterback "for sure."
Regular season
The Giants opened the 2011 season with a slow start, losing to rivals Washington Redskins 14-28 in an emotional game for both fanbase on the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Manning completed 18 of 32 passes for 268 yards but threw an expensive interception in the third quarter for linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who returned him for a touchdown and swung the momentum of the game. However, the Giants will recover and win the next three games, including top rivals of the Philadelphia Eagles, where he has 254 yards and four goals in a 29-16 win to get the NFC of the Week Player of the Year. During this time, Manning improved, throwing for eight goals and one interception.
After a 6-2 start, including a recent 24-20 minute comeback by Manning over the New England Patriots that evoked comparisons to the Super Bowl XLII, the Giants entered a tight schedule of their schedule, facing off against the San Francisco 49ers, the New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers, NFC champions West, South and North respectively. The Giants will lose all three games as well as fall into the Philadelphia Eagles at home, leading them into a 4-game skid and once again putting their postseason hopes in jeopardy. However, unlike the previous three seasons, the Giants will finish firmly, winning three of their last four matches. These included key victories over their crosstown rivals New York Jets as well as sweeping fellow rivals of their division, Dallas Cowboys. In the last regular season game against the Cowboys, Manning threw for 346 yards and three goals, giving the Giants victory, the Eastern NFC title, and the playoff spot for the first time in three years. He earned a Pro Bowl nomination for his performance in the 2011 season.
Playoff 2011
The Giants entered the postseason 2011 as an underdog, with the lowest winning record of any NFC team. However, Manning and his team will once again show their endurance and endurance at the end of the year. The first Giants easily beat Atlanta Falcons 24-2 in the Wild Card round and then shocked the Super Bowl champions and top seed Green Bay Packers to advance to the NFC Championship Game. In the win, Manning completed 21 of 33 attempts and threw three goals and one interception. The following week, the Giants will also avenge their defeat in the regular season to the San Francisco 49ers with a dramatic 20-17 win in the NFC Championship game. This victory ensured Manning and Giants made their second trip in five years to the Super Bowl, preparing for the highly anticipated Super Bowl XLII re-match against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Giants also made history into the first team ever to be defeated by their opponents in regular season (394 points, 400 points allowed) and then reach the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl XLVI
In the most watched program in US television history, Manning once again made the Giants win an annoyed over 2½ points favored by Patriots 21-17, the second Super Bowl and fourth overall victory for the franchise.
I shouted to [Bradshaw], "Do not score, do not score," Manning said. "He tried to stop, but he fell into the final zone."
While trailing the Patriots 15-17 in stoppage time, Manning led the Giants 88 yards down the field to a touchdown that many observers described as "coincidental." With just over a minute remaining time in the game, the Giants are called running runs and Manning handed the ball to Ahmad Bradshaw in hopes of stopping the goal line and forcing the Patriots to use their last time out, thus allowing the Giants to run out of time. The Patriots, in turn, did not try to tackle Bradshaw in his escape, and he then fell over the goal line despite trying to stop. However, the remaining time is not enough for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to lead the comeback and the Giants hold the lead to win. Manning was again named the Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl XLVI, becoming the third consecutive quarterback to win the award. The Giants also became the first team with less than ten wins in 16 regular season games to win the Super Bowl. Manning also became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw as far as 4,900 yards and win the Super Bowl in the same season. The Giants are the first team with a game that runs the last rank (32) and the defense ranks as low as 27 to win the Super Bowl.
To win the Super Bowl, Manning and Giants received a victory parade in Manhattan and was honored with a symbolic key to the city by mayor Michael Bloomberg. He was ranked 31st by his fellow players in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2012.
season 2012
The Giants will experience a disappointing season following the Super Bowl in 2011. In the final game of the 2012 season, Manning scored the best five passes while finishing 13 of 21 experiments and passing 208 yards without interception, in a 42-7 Giants victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished the season with 26 goals, 15 interceptions, and 3,948 passing yards. Although the Giants did not qualify for the playoffs with the 9-7 season, Manning was elected to the third Pro Bowl as a second alternative.
2013 season
Manning led the Giants to start the season with a 0-6 record, the worst regular season since 1976. He threw 12 interception in his first five games. Manning fell to 0-3 against his brother, Peyton in a 41-23 Sunday defeat to the Denver Broncos. He was 28 from 39 to 362 meters, but was intercepted four times. season 2014
After a 0-2 start, the Giants won three straight games but then lost the next seven games including a 16-10 loss to San Francisco 49ers in a match in which Manning threw five interception, which tied his career high. The Giants won three of their last four games to end the season with a record of 6-10. Manning ended the season with 30 goals, 14 interceptions, and 4,410 passing yards.
season 2015
A few days before the opening of the regular Giants season against the Dallas Cowboys, Manning signed a four-year extension of $ 84 million with the Giants. In Week 5, he has 441 yards, three goals, and one interception in a 30-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers to earn Offensive NFC of the Week Player. Through six games, he led the Giants to a 3-3 record and a series for first place at NFC East. On Sunday 8th, Manning scored six goals in his career highs and 350 yards, but the Giants lost to the New Orleans Saints, 52-49. On Sunday 14th, in a 31-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins, he was 27-of-31 for 337 passing yards and four goals to earn the NFC of the Week Player of the Year. After starting the 5-5 season, the Giants fall to 1-5 for the rest of the time to finish 6-10 for the second season in a row.
Manning completed the 2015 season with the highest career in touchdown pass (35), completion (387), experiment (618), and passenger rating (93.6). His 35th goal was one that shied away from Y. A. Tittle for most of the season in franchise history and was ranked second among quarterbacks that year. Manning also threw 4,432 yards in 2015, the second in his career. On January 22, 2016, Manning was selected for his fourth career, Pro Bowl, replacing Ben Roethlisberger. Season 2016: Return to playoffs
In the 2016 season opener against their division rivals, Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 11, Manning made 3 goals and 1 interception for 207 yards, as the Giants will survive to win 20-19. On October 16, in victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Manning made three touchdowns, achieved a career total of 302 goals pass and went through John Elway for seventh all the time.
Coming week after week and with two consecutive wins, beating the Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams, Manning drove a four-goal high as the Giants would halt the second drive that won the last game by the Eagles to win 28- 23. In the 16 week defeat against the Eagles on 22 December, Manning set a record high in 63 matches in one game while throwing one goal and three interception, surpassing Peyton Manning's record of 21 games with 3 interception with 22 players. The loss, though, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the New Orleans Saints later that week 31-24, giving the Giants their first playoff spot since last winning Super Bowl XLVI in the 2011 season.
By beating the Redskins rivals in the last week of the NFL season on New Year's Day and, therefore, beating the Redskins from playoff battles and bringing their season record to 11-5 (their first winning season since 2012), Manning and Giants face the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs, as Manning finished 23 of his 44 passes for 299 yards, while throwing for a touchdown. Manning returns to his own playoffs in the game, but is let down by a lot of drops by Odell Beckham Jr. and other star playmakers. The Packers will eventually defeat the Giants 38-13, ending the Giants season.
Manning finished the season by doing 26 touchdowns, 16 interception, and throwing over 4,000 yards with an 86.0 passer rating. Overall, the Giants' offense was lackluster for much of the season, constantly plagued by poor performances in the Strictly Final and Attack positions, with the only bright spot that became wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
On February 4, 2017, the vast Manning and Cardinals recipient, Larry Fitzgerald, both won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, making it the first time since 2006 that two players were award-winners (Drew Brees and LaDainian Tomlinson).

The Giants broke their losing streak with a 23-10 win over the Denver Broncos. The success was short-lived as the Giants lost their next game to Seattle Seahawks with a score of 24-7. During the 9th week against the Los Angeles Rams, Manning finished with 220 yards, 2 goals, and interception as the Giants lost by 51-17. During the Rams game, he became the seventh quarterback to reach 50,000 yards. On 28 November, after the 2-9 start of the season, it was announced that Manning would be benched and replaced by Geno Smith in Week 13, ending a Manning streak of 210 regular-season starts in a row. The second streak all the time for Brett Favre 297's back quarterbacks. Chief coach Ben McAdoo also gave Manning the option to start keeping the streak but Manning refused, stating that "My feeling is that if you're going to play someone else, play them. and knowing you will not finish the game and have a chance to win it is no use to me, and it stains a streak. "The move was met with a stiff reaction from former Giants and coaches. On December 5, two days after Sunday's 13th game, Manning was renamed to a starter after McAdoo was sacked as head coach. During the 15th week against the Eagles, Manning finished with 434 yards, 3 goals, and interception. The Giants lost 29-34, allowing the Eagles to win the first-round bye. On December 24, against the Arizona Cardinals, Manning passed John Elway to sixth on the NFL list all the time. Manning started his regular season finale against the Washington Redskins. In the 18-10 win, he had 132 yards, one touchdown, and one interception as the Giants ended their disappointing season with a 3-13 record.
