" I Might Have Been Queen " is a song written for Tina Turner as the first song on the highly successful Private Dancer album, and then included as a re-mix version, in addition the lyrics were added to the bridge, on his soundtrack album What's Love Got to With It .
The song was written by Jeanette Obstoj, Rupert Hine, and Jamie West-Oram for the album Private Dancer .
The lyrics are meant to be autobiographies, telling the story of Turner. After discussions with Rupert Hine, co-author Jeannette Obstoj talked to Turner about his life, starting with a cotton field in Nutbush, Tennessee. They also discussed Turner's interest in Egypt and his beliefs in his previous life, including his clear belief that in his previous life he was Hatshepsut, a Pharaoh who took the throne from his brother.
"I Might Have Been Queen" was performed on the 1984 Private Dancer Tour and during a performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City (July 17, 1993).
