Richard Tiffany Gere was born August 31, 1949) is an American humanitarian actor and activist. Early life and education

Gere was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His mother, Doris Ann (nÃÆ' Â © e Tiffany, 1924-2016), was a housewife. His father, Homer George Gere (born 1922), is an insurance agent for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, and was originally intended to become a minister. Gere first worked professionally at the Seattle Repertory Theater and Provincetown Playhouse on Cape Cod in 1969, where he starred in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Personal life and activism

Gere had a relationship with actress Penelope Milford from 1971 to 1978. She had relationships with Priscilla Presley in 1983 and Kim Basinger in 1986.

Gere married supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995. In November 2002, she married model and actress Carey Lowell. They have a son, Homer James Jigme Gere, who was born in February 2000 and named after the father of Gere and Lowell, as well as the name of Tibet Jigme. In September 2013, the two separated after 11 years of marriage. The couple spent three years in a highly contested divorce process at Manhattan Supreme Court. The case was resolved in October 2016. In early April 2018, he married Spanish activist Alejandra Silva.

In 1993, Gere was banned as an Academy Award presenter after he denounced the Chinese government in his capacity as a presenter. Gere is actively supporting Survival International, an organization dedicated to protecting the rights and land of tribal peoples around the world. He contributed some of his writing to this book, We Are One: A Celebration of Tribal Peoples, released in October 2009. It has been discussed about the persecution and loss of Jummas land as an example of a tragic story. which are repeated across the continents of the world, calling attention to crimes against their peaceful culture and how it reflects human relationships with nature and the ability to survive.
