Devious Maids is an American comedy and mystery television drama series created by Marc Cherry, produced by ABC Studios and executives produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Eva Longoria, Paul McGuigan, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass, Paul Presburger, and Michael Garcia. It was originally aired in Lifetime for four seasons from June 23, 2013 to August 8, 2016.

Set in Beverly Hills, California, Devious Maids follows the lives of four Latina servants working for the richest and strongest families in the area. The series features ensemble players led by Ana Ortiz as Marisol Suarez, Dania Ramirez as Rosie Falta, Roselyn SÃÆ'¡nchez as Carmen Luna, Judy Reyes as Zoila Diaz. While working for the most glamorous and powerful Beverly Hills residents, these domestic servants are often confronted and often part of the secrets, mysteries and crimes hidden behind the rich facades of their masters and closed doors in their homes. Edy Ganem, Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Brianna Brown, Brett Cullen, Mariana Klaveno, and Grant Show features in support of roles throughout the series.

The series was originally developed for broadcast on ABC, but was eventually taken by Lifetime. The first season was the subject of positive reviews from television critics. In September 2016, Lifetime announced that they canceled Devious Maids after four seasons, leaving the series to conclude on an unresolved cliffhanger. While online petitions from viewers campaigning for the series to continue on other networks or streaming services, it is confirmed that Devious Maids ultimately will not continue because the option with the player has expired.

Premise

The first season premiered on June 23, 2013, and introduced four main characters from the show: Marisol Duarte (Ana Ortiz), Rosie Falta (Dania Ramirez), Carmen Luna (Roselyn Sanchez) and Zoila Diaz (Judy Reyes), as well as their rich employers in the city of Beverly Hills. The main mystery of the season was the sudden murder of fellow maid Flora Hernandez (Paula Garces), and the involvement of his superiors Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) and Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) in the events that led to it. After becoming a law professor, Marisol took a job as Taylor aide (Brianna Brown) and Michael Stappord (Brett Cullen) to approach the old friends of Flora and prove that her son (Eddie Hassell) was innocent of the crime; Rosie worked for the Elven actor (Mariana Klaveno) and Spence Westmore (Grant Performing), though eventually got into an affair with the latter; Carmen took the job for singer Alejandro Rubio (Matt Cédée) in the hope that she made her a star while avoiding the feeling of her co-worker, Sam (WolÃÆ'Â © Parks); and Zoila tries to prevent her daughter Valentina (Edy Ganem) from alongside her boss Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci) son, Remi (Drew Van Acker).

The second season premiered on April 20, 2014, and the main mystery was the new fiancé of Marisol Nicholas Deering (Mark Deklin), the mysterious maid of Opal (Joanna P. Adler), and the fifteen-year secret. While Marisol works to solve the mystery of her new lover, Rosie also takes on a new lover - Reggie (Reggie Austin) - while working for her family, but works to expose her once she learns to darken her uncle (Willie C. Carpenter) for money. Carmen briefly acted as Alejandro's fiancée when he was gay, but his sudden killing caused him to work in Spence, who lost Elves and Rosie. Cousin Spence Ty (Gideon Glick) then came for a long visit and developed an unhealthy obsession for Carmen. Zoila finally gives Valentina his space, but only after her husband Pablo (Alex Fernandez) abandons it. He immediately takes on Javier's new lover (Ivan Hernandez), while Valentina works for Powells and takes on a new girlfriend Ethan (Colin Woodell), who secretly takes part in a group of teenagers who are raiding around the house. Because of one of these robberies, Adrian was abandoned and hired guard Tony Bishara (Dominic Adams) whom Evelyn had an affair with. Meanwhile, Remi struggles to win back Valentina, and her mother Genevieve learns that she needs a kidney transplant.

The third season aired on June 1, 2015, and the main mystery revolves around the return of Stappords, what they hide, and if it is related to the death of each of the tennis pro fi ts Louie Becker (Eddie Mills) and then Blanca Alvarez (Naya Rivera). Four months since the shooting by Ty's and Rosie woke from a coma, but she could not enjoy a married life with Spence because of the return of her allegedly dead husband, Ernesto (Cristian de la Fuente). He later worked as a new waiter for Stappords and revealed what they were hiding with the help of Marisol, who has now become a best-selling author and decides to open a placement agency for helpers, leading her to find love in young male assistant Jesse Morgan (Nathan Owens). Carmen finds a job at Powell and acts shortly as Adrian's dominatrix, while also continuing her affair with married man Sebastien Dussault (Gilles Marini) whose wife (Michelle Hurd) hopes to make her a star. Zoila's relationship with Javier ends when she lies about her being the father of her unborn child, and her friendship with Genevieve becomes a mess due to her new boss's love, Dr. Neff (John O'Hurley). Meanwhile, Valentina and Remi move to New York, and Powell takes adoptive son, Deion (Issac Ryan Brown).

The fourth and final season aired on June 6, 2016, and the main mystery was the sudden murder of the Westmore Fairy, and the sect involvement known as "The Circle" in the events that led to it. Rosie was in charge of an investigation when Spence was wrongly jailed for his crime while also working two jobs, one as Genevieve's new aide and the other as a nanny of the Pixie and Spence (Carter Birchwell) when the Fairy sister Shannon (Katherine LaNasa) got custody of herself. Zoila has permanently stopped being Genevieve's helpers after losing her child in childbirth, but in the absence of her new employer (Kate Beahan) she can disguise as a Beverly Hills socialite and land a new man - Kyle (Ryan McPartlin) - who has a very close bond with her mother (Stephanie Faracy), secret leader of "The Circle". Marisol's book is in the process of being filmed into the arms of studio head Peter Hudson (James Denton), but continues to have lingering feelings for Jesse, who has a love affair with Danni (Sol Rodriguez), Carmen's daughter he gave at birth and now start building relationship with. Meanwhile, Adrian is trying hard to try and win Evelyn back who moved on and start working for Marisol on his way to a divorce.

Adler as Opal Sinclair, Colin Woodell as Ethan Sinclair, and Dominic Adams as Tony Bishara. In recurring status Tricia O'Kelley joins the cast as Tanya Taseltof, and Klaveno, CedeÃÆ' Â ± o and Hamilton returns. Academy nominee nominee June Squibb also plays Susan Lucci's mother, Velma, in two episodes of the second season. Also added African-American Families - Millers, Tiffany Hines as Didi, Kimberly Hebert Gregory as Lucinda, Reggie Austin as Reggie, and Willie C. Carpenter as Kenneth Miller.

Brown and Cullen return as regular series in season three, with two-star guest star Gilles Marini and newcomers CristiÃÆ'¡n de la Fuente and Nathan Owens added to the main players. Gail Flemming newcomer Julie Claire is one of Evelyn's friends. Gail Fleming is a drunk driver, a rough verbal disorder. The episode title of the fourth season is clearing the game of words. For the fourth season, regular series Brianna Brown (Taylor Stappord), Brett Cullen (Michael Stappord) and Gilles Marini (Sebastien Dussault) are demoted, and will not show up this season. Sol Rodriguez (Daniela Mercado) is promoted to major players. Christopher Hanke added as Fabian. Sean Blakemore will play Reverend James Hamilton who is the creator of the annual House Hamilton charity.

Production

Development

The plot is based on the Mexican TV series Ellas son... la AlegrÃÆ'a del Hogar, translated in English as "They Are... the Joy of the Place" and heavily influenced by Cherry's previous series < i> Desperate Housewives . The Mexican series is based on the original concept by Gloria Calzada, Juan Meyer, and Salvador Rizo. The American adaptation is to follow four servants with their own ambitions and dreams while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, California. ABC ordered the pilot on January 31, 2012. Actress Eva Longoria was announced as an executive producer on March 26th. He previously worked with Cherry on Desperate Housewives, and was hired to add perspective to the Latin role. ABC Studios gave Cherry permission to start making senior staff offers for the show on May 1st, which is considered an indication that the event will be taken.

On May 14, 2012, trials were not taken by ABC for the 2012-13 United States networking schedule. However, on June 22, 2012, Lifetime lifted the pilot with thirteen episodes. In May 2012, Roselyn SÃÆ'¡nchez made a cameo appearance in the last episode of Desperate Housewives, "Finishing the Hat", as her character Carmen Luna.

After a series of constant cliffhangers and ongoing dramas, season 1 finale became the highest rated episode, with 3 million viewers. Season 2, on the other hand, averages 1.8 million total audiences per episode. The season premiere episode 3 attracts 1.5 million viewers.

Casting

Dania Ramirez is the main player to be cast, announced on 15 February. Ana Ortiz joined as a major player on February 17th. On February 23, Sanchez and Judy Reyes were added to the players. When Edy Ganem was announced in the cast on March 2 the show was still described as centering on four other helpers (Ortiz, Reyes, Sanchez, and Ramirez; Ortiz's character was later transformed into a professor who served as a maid).

Rebecca Wisocky joined the cast on 23 February. Most other supporting roles were filled in March: Brianna Brown (March 6); Susan Lucci, Drew Van Acker and Brett Cullen (all March 9); Mariana Klaveno and the Grant Show (both March 12); and Tom Irwin (March 16).

After the pilot episode was taken for the series by Lifetime, WolÃÆ' Â © Parks was added to the player in a regular role on 21 November. Melinda Page Hamilton and Matt CedeÃÆ' Â ± o were added to the player in a recurring role with a promotional promise if the Event was taken for the second season on 26 November. Both are expected to appear in the pilot episode. Valerie Mahaffey also made a cameo as a pilot, and then played a recurring role as Olivia Rice. Some actors from Desperate Housewives have a role in Devious Maids . Richard Burgi, Andrea Parker, Jolie Jenkins, Patrika Darbo, Dakin Matthews, Liz Torres who previously appeared on Desperate Housewives, have a guest role in this series.

For the second season, four new series of regular actors were added for the show. WolÃÆ' Â © Parks and Brett Cullen are not back for the second season, while Brianna Brown makes guest appearances. Mariana Klaveno was reduced to a recurring status in the second season. The stage actress Joanna P. Adler played the lead role of a new mystery maid, Opal, in December 2013. Newcomer Dominic Adams plays Tony, bodyguard, and Colin Woodell plays his son, Ethan Sinclair. Mark Deklin joins the cast as Nicholas Deering, Marisol's new love interest. Tricia O'Kelley joined the cast in Tanya's role over and over.

For the third season, Gilles Marini climbed into the regular series after appearing in the second season. One-season star Brianna Brown was announced to make her return to the series for the third season, as a regular series, with Brett Cullen also returning to play her husband. Valerie Mahaffey repeats as Olivia Rice for several episodes. In February 2015, it was reported that Glee actress Naya Rivera had joined the season in the repetitive Blanca role; an apparently ideal family maid, who learns about the secrets of changing lives. Later that month, Days of Our Lives actor Nathan Owens was cast in the regular role of Jesse, a newly returned home military man. Cristian de la Fuente also plays a regular role in Rosie's long-lost husband, Ernesto Falta, who is believed to have died. The actor Alec Mapa announced on tweet in February debuted on the show in the recurring role of Jerry. In April 2015, it was reported that previous fixed players Drew Van Acker and Edy Ganem (formerly one of the main characters, on the show) were relegated to a recurring role for the third season. They both appeared in the first two episodes last season and then depart when their character departs for New York.

For the fourth season, shooting starts January 14, 2016 and the episode title will clear the game of words. Brianna Brown, Brett Cullen, and Gilles Marini will not return as regular series players. In January 2016, announced executive producer Eva Longoria will be a guest star in season 4 while former Longoria's Desperate Housewives costar James Denton has been tapped for Peter's recurring role. Ryan McPartlin will make his debut this season by playing sweet, sexy Kyle - and, most importantly, a dirty rich man - a newcomer who becomes one of the core servants. However, he has a very close relationship with his mother, Frances, played by Stephanie Faracy. Also, recurring Julie Claire when Gail Fleming in Season 3 will be back in Season 4.
