Ford was born in Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois for Christopher Ford (born John William Ford), an advertising executive and former actor, and Dorothy (nÃÆ' à © e Nidelman), a former radio actress. The younger brother, Terence, was born in 1945. His father was Catholic and his mother was Jewish. Grandpa father of Ford's father, John Fitzgerald Ford and Florence Veronica Niehaus, each of Irish and German descent. Ford's maternal grandparents, Harry Nidelman and Anna Lifschutz, were Jewish emigrants from Minsk, Belarus (at that time a part of the Russian Empire). When asked where religion he and his brother grew up, Ford jokingly replied, "Democrats," "become a liberal person of every line". In a television interview aired in August 2000, when asked about what influence Irish Catholic and Russian Jewish ancestors might have in his life as a person and as an artist, Ford humorously proclaimed, "As a man, I always feel Irish, as an actor I always feel Jewish. "
Ford is active in Boy Scouts of America, and achieved the second highest ranking, Life Scout. He works at the Napolean Adventures Scout base camp as an adviser for the Reptile Studies badge. Therefore, he and director Steven Spielberg later decided to portray young Indiana Jones as Life Scout in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
In 1960, Ford graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. His was the first student voice to be broadcast on his new high school radio station, WMTH, and he was his first sportscaster during his senior year (1959-60). Initial career
In 1964, after a summer season with Belfry players in Wisconsin, Ford went to Los Angeles to apply for a job on voice-overs radio. He did not get it, but stayed in California and eventually signed a $ 150 per week contract with Columbia Pictures' new talent program, playing a small part in the movie. His first known role was an unmanned role as a bellboy in the Dead Heat on Merry-Go-Round (1966). There is little note about his role that does not speak (or "extra" work) in the movie. Ford was at the bottom of the recruitment list, after offending producer Jerry Tokovsky after he played a key role in the feature. He was told by Tokovsky that when actor Tony Curtis sent a sack of groceries, he did it like a movie star; Ford felt his job was to act like a bellboy. Ford succeeded in securing other roles in the film, such as A Time for Killing (The Long Ride Home) , starring Glenn Ford; George Hamilton; and Inger Stevens.
His speech continued with Luv (1967), although he still has not gained recognition. He was eventually credited as "Harrison J. Ford" in the 1967 Western A Time for Killing movie, but "J" did not represent anything, because he did not have a middle name. It was added to avoid confusion with a silent film actor named Harrison Ford, who appeared in over 80 films between 1915 and 1932 and died in 1957. Ford later said that he did not know the whereabouts of previous actors until he found a star with his own name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ford immediately dropped the "J" and worked for Universal Studios, playing a small role in many television series throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including Gunsmoke , Ironside , < i> The Virginian , FBI , Love, American Style , and Kung Fu . He appeared in the west of Journey to Shiloh (1968) and had an unknown role, not speaking in the 1970 Michelangelo Antonioni film Zabriskie Point as a captured student protester. Unhappy with the role offered to him, Ford became a professional carpenter who was self-taught to support his young wife and two sons.
Fine casting director and producer Fred Roos championed young Ford and earned him an audition with George Lucas for the role of Bob Falfa, which was later continued by Ford in American Graffiti (1973). Ford's relationship with Lucas will greatly affect his career in the future. After successful film director Francis Ford Coppola The Godfather , he hired Ford to expand his office and gave him a small role in the next two movies, The Conversation (1974) and Apocalypse Now (1979); in the last movie he plays an army officer named "G. Lucas".

The character of Ford killed in The Force Awakens ; However, it was later announced, through a casting call, that Ford would return in some capacity as Han Solo at Episode VIII . Indiana Jones
Ford's status as a leading actor compressed when he starred in the world-renowned archaeologist Indiana Jones in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), a collaboration between George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Although Spielberg was interested in issuing Ford from the beginning, Lucas did not, having worked with actors in American Graffiti and Star Wars, but eventually he succumbed after Tom Selleck was unable to accept.
Ford went on to star in the prequel of Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom (1984) and the sequel to Indiana Jones and Last Crusade (1989). He returned to the role again for the 1993 episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and even later for the fourth film Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull Kingdom.
