Pwn is a slang leetspeak term derived from the verb itself , which means appropriate or to conquer to gain ownership. This term implies dominance or contempt for rivals, mainly used in internet-based video game culture to mock opponents who have just been defeated well (eg, "You just pwned!").
In the kiddie script jargon, pwn means compromise or control, especially other computers (servers or PCs), websites, gateway devices, or applications. This is identical to one definition of hacking or hacking, including iOS jailbreaking. The Pwnie award was given by a group of security researchers.
The popularity of the term among teenagers rose in the mid-2000s, with the spread of the written form of the Internet for use in spoken language.
