Drought due to sport

- In the NHL, New York Rangers suffered a Stanley Cup drought for 54 years from 1940 to 1994, when they defeated the Vancouver Canucks. The longest title drought is currently split by two teams: Toronto Maple Leafs, who have not won the Stanley Cup since 1967, and St. Louis Blues, who entered the league when it doubled in size the following season, and has not won the Cup (and has not appeared in the Cup Final since 1970).
- In the NFL, four teams have never appeared in the Super Bowl (Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars), and eight other teams have never won the game. - In Major League Soccer (MLS), the longest current MLS Cup drought is 20 years, hosted by three teams, FC Dallas, New England Revolution and the New York Red Bulls, as each team fails to win the title league though has competed in every MLS season dating back to 1996. All have made an MLS Cup Final appearance (Dallas lost to the Colorado Rapids in MLS Cup 2010, New York lost to the Columbus Crew in MLS Cup 2008, and New England lost to the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS Cup 2002, MLS Cup 2005 and MLS Cup 2014 and to Houston Dynamo in MLS Cup 2006 and MLS Cup 2007). City with significant drought
Those who believe in the Buffalo Curse cite as an example of four consecutive Super Bowl losses by Buffalo Bills from 1990 to 1993, as well as the failure of Buffalo Sabers to ever win the Stanley Cup. Wide Right, No Goal, and The Music City Miracle also contribute to belief in the Buffalo Curse. Carefully broken again in 2006, when Sabers lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final, as four of their top six defeats lost in injury along with Tim Connolly, top scorer in the playoffs of the time. injury. Although the Sabers made it back to the finals of the next year's conference, they lost again, this time to the rival division of the Ottawa Senator. It should be noted that Buffalo Bills won the AFL championship in 1964 and 1965. The "curse" suspect, however, has not yet expanded to the suburbs or small league teams - Buffalo Bandit from the NLL has won 4 league championships (1992, 1993, 1996, 2008) and six divisions of the Championship (1992, 1993, 1994, 2004, 2006, 2008), and Western New York Flash from the National Women's Soccer League, based in Buffalo but playing home games in Rochester, winning the 2016 NWSL Championship. Flash also won the league title at two competitions directly preceded by NWSL - Women's Professional Soccer in 2011 and WPSL Elite in 2012. Flash also won the NWSL Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular season record, in the inaugural 2013 league season but lost in the championship final for Portland Thorns FC. San Diego Padres has never won the World Series, believed to come from San Diego Sports Curse . The former NFL team of San Diego, Chargers and the previous NBA team, Rockets and Clippers, never won the Super Bowl or the NBA championship when they were inside the city. The Padres is tied with Rangers Texas for the World Series (two) of the seven teams without World Series championships. The Chargers won the AFL Championship 1963 and only appeared in one Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXIX, which they lost to San Francisco 49ers, 49-26).
Some cities with at least three teams experience a shorter but more famous drought. Minneapolis-Saint Paul has not reached the championship series since the Twins won the 1991 World Series. This drought, as happened in Buffalo, has not expanded into league or minor league teams - two such teams, Minnesota Lynx WNBA and Minnesota Stars from the North American Football League currently, won the league championship in 2011, and Lynx claimed other league titles in 2013 and 2015.
Since the founding of Major League Soccer in 1996, Columbus and Washington have won three major US football (MLS Supporters' Shield, MLS Cup and US Open Cup) trophies during their "Big Four" drought. Toronto won all three major Canadian football trophies (MLS Supporters' Shield, MLS Cup and Voyageurs Cup) in the 2017 MLS season, during the current "Big Four" drought. San Jose have won MLS Supporters 'Shield and MLS Cup during the Big Four drought while Portland and Salt Lake City have won the MLS Cup (but no MLS Supporters' Shields or US Open Cups) during their "Big Four" drought.

Gold Coast itself as a city has experienced a long dry season. The original Gold Coast side was founded in 1988 as The Gold Coast-Tweed Giants and later renamed it three times. First as The Gold Coast Seagulls, then Gold Coast Gladiators and then The Gold Coast Chargers. In 2006, The Gold Coast Titans entered the competition. The Castleford Tigers currently hold a record for a long time to win the premiership in The Super League or The NRL. Founded in 1926, Castleford only played in three grand finals (1938,1969 & 2017) and for the first time in their 91-year history they finished first in the 2017 Super League season to claim their first league shield leader. Castleford drought for 91 years to await the first title eclipse The Cronulla Sutherland Sharks noted in The NRL 49 years that has the longest drought of any professional rugby league team in Australia to await its first title.

In France, ASM Clermont Auvergne has a history of championship that is arguably tortured as the most "condemned" team in North America or Australia. From their formation in 1911 to 2009, they have never won the national title despite making the last championship 10 times, and have conducted trials in those six matches.
The drought peaked in three successive-degree defeats in 2007 to 2009, and Les Jaunards finally broke through 2010 to win their first title after 91 years of competition (they did not play in 1915-1919 or 1940-1942 because of World War I and World War II).
