Background and writing
In an interview for Blender , Martin and Dr. Luke revealed that they originally intended Pink to sing "Since U Been Gone", however, he refused. Dr. Luke also explained that Hilary Duff's management was interested in the song but denied it because Duff could not achieve a higher tone than the song. It was Clive Davis who convinced Martin and Dr. Luke to deliver the song to Clarkson, although initially they were reluctant. Davis said, "Max wants to move away from what he has done with Backstreet Boys, and I really spend time convincing them that the winner of 'American Idol' can bring all the feelings and passion required for the song." According to MTV, Clarkson has finished recording material for his second album, Breakaway at the end of 2004 when he was advised by A & amp; R to fly to Sweden to meet with Martin and Dr. Luke. Both Martin and Dr. Luke is associated with pop music but they want to produce rock songs. Realizing that his record had more rock influence, Clarkson finally agreed to collaborate with them. "In an interview with Billboard, Dr. Luke explains the origins of" Since U Been Gone ", says
"It was a conscious movement by Max and myself, as we listened to alternative and indie music and talked about some songs - I do not remember what it was.I said, 'Ah, I love this song,' and Max is like, 'If they just write a fucking pop chorus on it! ' It makes him crazy, because the indie song is like at six, goes to seven, goes to eight, the chorus comes... and it's back to the bottom five. It's driving him crazy, and when he says it, it's like, a bulb. " Why do not we do that, but turn the choir on it? "It worked."
The songs that Martin and Dr. Luke has heard that inspired the writing "Since U Been Gone" was later confirmed to be "Maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The two songs share some similarities in their introductions, break the guitar post-choir and the middle eight, and both are written in the main key of G. Karen O, lead singer for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and songwriter "Maps", commented that she was struck by the similarities between two songs, and especially their guitar break, and once tried to debate the song's credit in "Since U Been Gone".
"Ever since U Been Gone" is the last song Clarkson recorded for Breakaway ; it was recorded in Sweden. At first, Clarkson was not entirely convinced by the prospect of recording a song that said, "It has no lyrics and the melody is completely unfinished... the song was done on the computer, no band on it.. My record record is freaking about it and I, like, why? "Clarkson also explained that when he first heard" Since U Been Gone ", he felt that it sounded a little pop for his direction and he decided to tweak the musical by incorporating drums and guitars. Clarkson told MTV that the song was about a relationship turning sour even though it went well at the beginning. The song was officially released to the main radio station in the United States on November 16, 2004 as the lead singles Maps Since U Been Gone

He also thinks that the line "I can breathe for the first time/I'm very moving, yeah yeah" is believed "that his ex is a total asshole or he is worthy. sic Oscar nomination." In an interview with Dan Snierson from Entertainment Weekly, it was noted that Clarkson sang "So together but so destroyed in/Because I can not breathe" in "Behind these Dangerous Eyes" but in "Because U Been Gone", he singing "But since you're gone/I can breathe for the first time."
