Professional wrestling career
Training (1995-1996)
Like his father and grandfather, some of Johnson's other relatives (non-bloods) are or professional wrestlers, including his uncle, Afa and Sika Anoa? I (The Wild Samoans) and his cousin, Rodney (Yokozuna), Solofa (Rikishi), Matt (Rosey) and Eddie (Umaga). When Johnson declared his intention to become a wrestler, his father initially refused, but later agreed to train it himself, warning that he would not be soft on him. Veteran wrestler Pat Patterson got Johnson several test matches with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1996. Under his real name, he defeated The Brooklyn Brawler at a home event and lost the other matches with Chris Candido and Owen Hart. After wrestling at the American Wrestling Association Jerry Lawler as Flex Kavana and winning the USWA World Tag Team Championship twice with Bart Sawyer in the summer of 1996, Johnson signed a WWF contract. He received additional training from Tom Prichard, along with Achim Albrecht and Mark Henry.

Intercontinental Champion (1996-1997)
Johnson made his WWF debut as Rocky Maivia, a combination of the names of his father and grandfather's ring, even though his real name was recognized by the broadcasters. He was initially reluctant to take the name of this ring but was persuaded by Vince McMahon and Jim Ross. She was given the nickname "The Blue Chipper" and her lineage was played on TV, where she was hyped as a third-generation WWF wrestler. Maivia, a clean face character, was very encouraged from the start, despite her lack of experience in grappling. He debuted on Monday Night Raw as member of Marc Mero's entourage on November 4, 1996 and made his first match in the Survivor Series on November 17, in an eight-person elimination tag; he is the only survivor by crushing Crush and Goldust alone. WWF fans generally reject it because of its cheesy character. On February 13, 1997, he won the Intercontinental Championship of Hunter Hearst Helmsley on Monday Night Raw. Maivia successfully defended the title in In Your House 13: Final Four against Hunter Hearst Helmsley and at WrestleMania 13 against The Sultan. He beat Bret Hart with a disqualification in defense of the title on 31 March episode Raw is War . On April 20th at In Your House 14: Revenge of the 'Taker, he lost to Savio Vega with countout, defending his title for the last time. The audience became increasingly hostile towards Maivia, with shouting "Die, Rocky, dead!" and "Rocky sucks!" heard during the game.
Nation of Domination (1997-1998)
After losing the Intercontinental Championship to Owen Hart on April 28, 1997 to Raw Is War episode and suffering a legitimate knee injury in a match against Mankind, Maivia returned in August 1997 and turned around to join Faarooq, D'Lo Brown and Kama in a cage called the Nation of Domination. During this time, he refused to recognize the name of Rocky Maivia, instead of calling himself a third person as The Rock, although he would still be billed as Rocky "The Rock" Maivia until 1998. As The Rock, he insulted the audience in his promotion as well as the WWF television interviewer , once referred to Kevin Kelly as "hermaphrodit ugly".
On D-Generation X: In Your House, Stone Cold Steve Austin beat The Rock in under six minutes to defend the Intercontinental Championship. The following night at Raw Is War, Austin was ordered by Mr. McMahon to defend the title in a rematch, but handed it to The Rock instead, handing him the title belt before hitting him with Stone Cold Stunner. The Rock fought with Austin and Ken Shamrock until late 1997 and early 1998. On March 30th episode of Raw is War, The Rock debuted with a new Intercontinental Championship belt that was used to represent the title until October 2, 2011, when previous designs are reused. That night, The Rock will also topple Faarooq as the Nation of Domination leader to spark a feud between the two and successfully defend the Intercontinental title against Faarooq in Over the Edge: At Your Home on May 31, 1998.
The Rock and The Nation then clashed with Triple H and D-Generation X (DX), with two stable leaders meeting first in the quarter-finals of the King of the Ring 1998 tournament, which The Rock won. In the King of the Ring, The Rock beat Dan Severn in the semi-final and lost to rival Ken Shamrock in the final. The Rock then resumed his feud with Triple H, as both have two of the three falls in Fully Loaded: At Your House for the Intercontinental title, which maintained The Rock in controversial fashion. This led to a ladder match at SummerSlam, where Triple H won the title. At Breakdown: In Your House, The Rock beats Ken Shamrock and Mankind in a three-match armchair game to become the number one contender for the WWF Championship. The Rock then fought with fellow Nation member Mark Henry, effectively breaking the cage.
The sponsorship of The Corporation (1998-1999)
The Rock's entertaining promo and subsequent popularity led to a face turn, in which he called himself "The People's Champion". This caused a feud with Mr. McMahon, who says he has "problems with people" and thus will target "The People's Champion". Double turns took place in the Survivor Series, when The Rock defeated fellow McMahon, Man, in the final of the "Deadly Games" tournament for an empty WWF Championship in a way that was reminiscent of the Montreal Screwjob. The Rock is allied with Vince and Shane McMahon as their stable crown jewel, The Corporation. On December 13, 1998 in pay-per-view was named for him, Rock Bottom: In Your House, The Rock has a rematch with Man for the WWF Championship. Man appeared to win the game when The Rock fainted in the Mandible Claw submission, but Mr. McMahon decided that because The Rock did not come out, he defended his title.
Rock continues to fight with Humanity during the WWF Championships, which are traded back and forth between them. First, in the main event of the January 4, 1999 episode Raw Is War , Man defeated The Rock after the annoyance of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Then, in the "I Quit" match at Royal Rumble on January 24th, The Rock regained the title, when the Human tape said "I stopped" from previous interviews played on the PA system. On the Halftime Heat (an episode of Sunday Night Heat aired on the same timeslot as the Super Bowl XXXIII show in the first half) on January 31, The Man pinned The Rock with a truck forklift in an empty arena match. Both of them faced again at the St. John Day Massacre. Valentine: At Your House in the last match of the man who ended in a draw, which means Man defends his title. Their hostilities end on February 15th Raw Is War, when The Rock won their third WWF Championship in a ladder game after the Big Show chokeslam on mankind from the ladder. The Rock lost the WWF Championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV.
Although he is a villain, his funny oral skills make many fans cheer for The Rock, who then lost a rematch in Backlash: In Your House and thus betrayed by Shane McMahon, turning him back into fan favorite and initiating hostility with Triple H, The Undertaker and The Corporate Ministry saw The Rock beat Triple H in Over the Edge, but then lost to WWF Champion The Undertaker in King of the Ring. The Rock lost the competition's number one match for Triple H at Fully Loaded after the disruption of Mr. Ass. This sparked a feud with Mr Ass, culminating in Kiss My Ass's match at SummerSlam, which The Rock won.
Breaking WWF/WWE Champion record (1999-2002)
Towards the end of 1999, The Rock has several singles championship opportunities and tag team, working with former Enemy enemies as The Rock 'n' Sock Connection after he challenged the WWF Tag Team Champions The Undertaker and Big Show and Humanity offered his help. They won the title for the first of three times. The two do a lot of comedic skits together, including one on Raw Is War called "This Is Your Life" (based on TV shows), where Humans produce people from The Rock's past, such as her high school boyfriend and high school football coach. This segment ranked 8.4 Nielsen, one of the highest ranks ever for the Raw segment.
At Royal Rumble on January 23, 2000, The Rock enters the Royal Rumble game and is one of the last two remnants, along with the Big Show; The show seemed to be meant to throw The Rock over the ropes in the running position, but Rock returned the step on the apron ring, sending the Big Show to the floor before re-entering the ring as the winner. However, The Rock's feet touch the first floor, although those who watch the show on TV do not see it, until Big Show proves this with additional video footage, and claims to be the rightful winner. Despite this proof, the original decision can not be canceled, so the number one match for the WWF Championship matches is held in No Way Out, the Big Show was won after Shane McMahon interrupted and hit The Rock on the head with a steel chair as he tried to execute the elbow. People . The Rock beat the Big Show on March 13th episode of Raw Is War to regain the right to face WWF Champion, Triple H, at WrestleMania 2000 in a fatal four-way elimination game, also including Big Show and Mick Foley. Every wrestler has McMahon in his corner: Triple H has his wife, Stephanie, Foley has Linda, The Rock has Vince and Big Show has Shane. Triple H defended the title after Vince betrayed The Rock by hitting him with a chair.
In the following weeks, The Rock resumed his feud with Triple H and eventually won the fourth WWF Championship, which he won on April 30 at Backlash after Stone Cold Steve Austin intervened on his behalf. On May 21 at Judgment Day, The Rock and Triple H face Iron Man match with Shawn Michaels as special guest referees. With the score tied on five falls each and with seconds remaining on the time limit The Rock was disqualified when The Undertaker attacked Triple H, thus giving Triple H a 6-5 and title win. The following night at Raw Is War, The Rock got his revenge by taking the entire McMahon-Helmsley Faction with the help of The Undertaker. The Rock won the WWF Championship for the fifth time in the King of the Ring on June 25 by scoring the winning pin in a six-player team game, in collaboration with Kane and The Undertaker against Shane McMahon, Triple H and Vince McMahon, whom he pinned. The Rock managed to keep the championship against Chris Benoit at Fully Loaded on July 23rd, Kurt Angle and Triple H at SummerSlam on August 27 and Benoit, Kane and The Undertaker at Unforgiven on 24 September.
The Rock lost the WWF Championship to Angle at No Mercy in October. Around this time, The Rock clashed with Rikishi and defeated him in the Survivor Series. The Rock cultivates Hell six people in a Cell match for the WWF Championship at Armageddon, in which Kurt Angle wins to defend his title. On December 18th at Raw , The Rock won the WWF Team Tag Championship with The Undertaker, defeated Edge and Christian, then lost it back to them the next night at SmackDown! recording. In 2001, The Rock continued to clash with Angle over the WWF Championship, culminating in No Way Out in February, where he pinned Angle to win the WWF Championship for the sixth time. The Rock then clashed with the winner of Royal Rumble, Stone Cold Steve Austin, whom he lost the title at WrestleMania X-Seven after Austin allied with Mr. McMahon, who interferes on his behalf. On the following night of Raw Is War during a rematch of the title of the steel enclosure, Triple H came into the ring with a hammer and it seemed like he was going to help The Rock, because of the rivalry between Austin and Triple H (and the fight with McMahon at night before), but instead he attacked him, allied with McMahon and Austin. Austin and Triple H formed a tag team called The Power Trip, while The Rock is unlimitedly suspended. Johnson used this time to act in the movie The Mummy Returns.
The Rock returned to WWF at the end of July 2001 and had to decide whether to join WWF or The Alliance (former group of WCW and ECW wrestlers) during The Invasion, which ultimately sided with WWF. In SummerSlam, The Rock beats Booker T to win the WCW Championship. He lost the title to Chris Jericho at No Mercy. The next night at Raw , he teamed up with Jericho to win the WWF Team Tag Championship from The Dudley Boyz.
The Rock beat Jericho on 5 November episode Raw for both WCW Championships. As part of the WWF battle against The Alliance, The Rock grapples with a "winner of all taking" a ten-man elimination game in the Survivor Series. In the end, he came to one on one with Steve Austin (who just joined the Alliance). The Rock seemed to have the upper hand, until Jericho (a member of the WWF Team, who knocked out a few minutes earlier), entered the ring and attacked The Rock. Austin tried to capitalize on this by pinning The Rock, but Kurt Angle, a member of Team Alliance, expressed his loyalty by hitting Austin in the head with a champion belt. The Rock then pinned Austin, forcing The Alliance to disband. The Rock's WCW Championship was renamed "Unemployed World Championship" after losing the Alliance. The Rock closed in 2001 with the loss of the World Championships in Vengeance to Chris Jericho, which will unite WWF and WCW titles that night.
The Rock failed to challenge Jericho to the Undeniable WWF Championship at Royal Rumble, but defeated The Undertaker at No Way Out. Three weeks before WrestleMania, The Rock led the WWE Asia tour to Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. The first show was at Yokohama Arena and had sold 18,000 tickets in sixty minutes. Jericho, who was booked to face him for all three shows, said he pulled out the best in him and described his reaction as "one of the toughest I've ever heard in my career." It's as if Elvis has joined The Beatles and all of them are dressed in costumes Godzilla ". He later fought with the New World Order, after challenging Hollywood's Hulk Hogan for the match at WrestleMania X8. The game was billed as an icon of the opposing icon, with both men representing the top level of two generations of wrestling; finally Rock pinned Hogan in WrestleMania X8. After nWo activates Hogan for losing the match, The Rock is allied with him and recruited to SmackDown! brand, becoming the first WWF wrestler to be drafted in the WWF draft draw before taking short leave from wrestling.
When he returned, The Rock won the seventh WWF/WWE championship that broke his record (which had been renamed WWE Undisputed Championship after WWF renamed WWE in May 2002) at Vengeance on July 21, defeating Kurt Angle and The Undertaker in a game of three threats. The Rock successfully defended the title in Global Warning in Australia against Triple H and Brock Lesnar by pinning Triple H, who saved The Rock when Lesnar attacked him after the game. At SummerSlam on August 25, after the annoyance of Lesnar manager Paul Heyman and the use of a steel chair, The Rock lost the WWE Championship to Lesnar along with the youngest WWE Champion record, which he set in 1998. Following Lesnar's loss, The Rock publicly stated that whether the crowd ridiculed him he would always be the People's Champion, criticizing the fans in the arena and again taking sabbatical from wrestling to focus on his film career.
Hostilities and final departure (2003-2004)
The Rock back on January 30th 2003, episode SmackDown! to publicly criticize Hulk Hogan and make it clear that because of his successful career in Hollywood, WWE is no longer a priority and thus rebuilds him as a villain for the first time since 1999. Rock beats Hogan again at No Way Out and organizes himself into the Raw brand where he has various hostilities, including one with The Hurricane. He also performed a "Rock concert", a segment in which he played guitar and made fun of the host city of the show.
After failing to win the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championships, The Rock turned his attention to Steve Austin who, for The Rock's chagrin, has been chosen as "Superstar of the Decade". This led to a match at WrestleMania XIX, which was recalled to two previous WrestleMania meetings, both of whom had won in Austin. The Rock wins after delivering three consecutive Rock Bottoms, ending their old feud in what turned out to be Austin's last game. The following night, Raw was billed as "The Rock Appreciation Night", in honor of his victory over Austin. That night, he was attacked by Goldberg who debuted. At Backlash, Goldberg defeated The Rock, who later left WWE as an active wrestler to focus on his film career.
The Rock then occasionally returns to WWE in non-wrestling roles, gradually changing again by engaging in one night's hostility against the heels like Chris Jericho and Christian. Rock assisted Mick Foley in his feud against Evolution, leading to the reunion of The Rock 'n' Sock Connection. They face Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Batista in a handicap match at WrestleMania XX, losing when Orton clamps Foley after RKO. Turns out it was Rock's last game for seven years. The Rock appears on WWE sporadically following WrestleMania XX. He stood up for Eugene, made a cameo in his hometown of Miami and helped Mick Foley return to La Réané union. Then in 2004, he hosted a pie eating contest, as part of the WWE Diva Search and ended the segment by providing Jonathan Coachman spinebuster and the People's Elbow. After this, he stated in several interviews that he is no longer under contract with WWE. He stated that he will continue to use the trademark name "The Rock", per double ownership deal between him and WWE. Sporadic Appearance (2004-2009)
On August 23, 2004, episode Raw , The Rock came back and picked up Jonathan Coachman and La Rà © union. In October 2005, The Rock told all the interviews with WWE.com, he talked his contract with WWE, movies and feelings on a dream game with Shawn Michaels. On March 29, 2008, The Rock inaugurated his father, Rocky Johnson, and his grandfather, Peter Maivia, to the WWE Hall of Fame. During his induction speech, he grills the wrestlers John Cena, Santino Marella, Chris Jericho, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. In September 2009, he performed at the World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) event to support the pro wrestling debut of Sarona Snuka, the daughter of his old friend and mentor Jimmy Snuka. On October 2, 2009, the ten-year anniversary of SmackDown, The Rock (with its usual shaved flattop hair) cut a promo through a video recording.

The Rock claims to be wrestling, born in business, Cena claims. On April 3rd at WrestleMania XXVII, The Rock opened the show by cutting a promo. After the game, Rock attacked Miz and hit him with the Elbow of the People . The next night at Raw , Cena challenged The Rock to the match at WrestleMania XXVIII the following year, which Rock received. On April 1st at WrestleMania XXVIII, The Rock faced Cena in a major event that stalled for a year and was billed with the tag "Once in a Lifetime". When Cena is overconfident trying the Elbow of the Man on The Rock, she responds with Rock Bottom for the pin and the victory. On July 23 at Standard 1000 , The Rock announced he would face the WWE Champion at Royal Rumble. During the show, he met WW Punk's CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and John Cena, all of whom expressed a desire to deal with it. He then saves Cena from the attack by Big Show, only to be styled by CM Punk.

Punk received a title rematch with The Rock at the Elimination Chamber, with additional provision that if The Rock were disqualified or counted, he would lose the title, but Rock pinned Punk to defend the championship. The next night at Raw, The Rock launched a new WWE Championship during the championship celebration, with an entirely new center plate and Brahma Bull's signature logo on the side plate. The Rock then continued his rivalry with John Cena, with Cena blaming his personal and professional problems for his loss to The Rock the previous year. On April 7th at WrestleMania 29, Rock lost the WWE Championship to Cena, ending his reign on 70 days.
